Role Overview As a Chemical Engineer specializing in Process Safety Consulting, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe design, operation, and maintenance of industrial processes. Your expertise will be crucial in implementing and optimizing process safety management systems in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities 

• Process Safety Management (PSM): Develop, implement, and maintain PSM programs for clients in various industries. Conduct thorough reviews of process safety information, process hazard analysis (PHA), and process safety audits. Ensure compliance with OSHA and CCPS Process Safety Guidelines.
• Hazard Analysis: Execute Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA). Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify and mitigate process hazards. Analyse and interpret results to recommend improvements in safety measures.
• Standards and Guidelines: Stay updated on industry standards, including API and AIChE standards, and apply them to client projects. Provide guidance on the application of relevant standards to enhance process safety.
• Auditing and Incident Investigation: Perform process safety audits for clients to assess the effectiveness of existing safety programs. Provide detailed reports and recommendations for improvement based on audit findings. Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and develop corrective actions. Work closely with clients to prevent recurrence of incidents and improve overall safety performance.
• Training and Documentation: Conduct training sessions for client personnel on process safety principles, guidelines, and standards. Promote a strong safety culture by fostering awareness and understanding among team members. Prepare comprehensive reports documenting process safety assessments, recommendations, and findings. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all activities and client interactions.

Qualifications & Experience 

• Bachelors in chemical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in process safety consulting or related roles.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA and CCPS Process Safety Guidelines, API standards, and AIChE standards.
• Proven experience in conducting HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, and other process safety studies.
• Strong understanding of PSM elements and their practical implementation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to travel to client sites as needed.
